ABOUT BEC-National
More than 3,000 affiliated architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers and others with an interest in building enclosures participate in Building Enclosure Councils (BECs) around the country.
The Councils promote the exchange of information and encourage discussion on matters concerning building enclosures and related science, such as training, education, technology transfer, weather conditions and local issues and cases.
The Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) of the National Institute of Building Sciences and the American Institute of Architects signed an agreement to establish the BEC initiative on May 18, 2004.

ABOUT BEC-Cleveland
We are pleased to inform you about the formation of the newest chapter of the Building Enclosure Council (BEC) in Cleveland with long-term positive potential impacts on the design and construction communities at large operating in Northeast Ohio.
Representing the 27th chapter in the United States and the only such group in Ohio, BEC Cleveland is co-founded by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates and Technical Assurance, and is organized as a standing committee of the AIA Cleveland.
Building Enclosure Council (BEC) was established on a national level as an initiative of the Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2004.
BEC-Cleveland’s mission is to create an interdisciplinary and objective place to share knowledge and resources impacting building enclosures in the unique climatic conditions of Northeast Ohio. We are encouraging architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, consultants, facility managers, code officials, educators, manufacturers, and anyone else with an interest in achieving higher performing and more energy-efficient buildings to join, learn, and make contributions.
